The world of fashion is in constant flux and the market is saturated with a flood of brands and designers who aspire to leave their mark in a constantly evolving world. Last weekend, at the historical Bonsecours market in the heart of Old Montreal, I along with thousands of other avid shoppers, had the chance to visit La Grande Braderie de mode Quebécoise (The BIG fashion sale by Quebec designers). Organized by well-respected designer Anne de Shalla, the event was, a unique shopping experience and a veritable mecca for fashionistas where you could discover a taste of what local talent has to offer and get rebates up to 80% on surplus inventory.
Among the various participants were benchmark names such as cool rebel look Rudsak and bold Soïa & Kyo who offered a wealth of winter coats and leather bags along with other accessories.
Here below are two brands that really caught my attention at this exclusive event:
Yves Gaudette and Winnie Batiller partnered up to create Winnie Fashion; a brand that is synonymous with elegant modesty and classy designs.
Powered by a duo designer team that include: Angella Fainman, (who conceptualized the models using new fabric made of recycle fiber) and Igor Lipov, (official designer of the models), the brand line is 100% conceptualized in Quebec and then assembled in the Philippines.
Winnie lovingly curates a rotating selection of clothing with dual Summer-Spring and Fall-Winter collections. Winnie’s designs shows off solid, bright colors with crisp, symmetrical lines that give off harmonious and beautiful proportions as well as a sense of balance – traits which characterize the company.
I especially loved their Fall collection Berny-2 green and black dress that has a row of downward buttons that will elongate and flatter any figure.
